Rising with the sun, once again, you rub your bleary eyes. No good rest was to be had, and your dreams were filled with navy blue cat ears and flashes of gold thongs. You can’t help but feel a weird sort of guilt over the accidental peeping, and think about ways to make it right as you get dressed for the day.
Walking outside, bug net in tow, the sun beats down on your back, an unusually warm day for early October. Your face turns red with frustration at your subliminal decision.

You nearly jump out of your skin at Ankha’s voice, noticing the cat girl staring you down blankly from a lounge chair. She leans forward, eye contact intensifying, and blinks slowly.
“Not one for talking, are we?”, she says in a drawn out voice. “That’s okay, I'm glad to talk with you. Even this much, 𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘸.”
A small smile works its way onto your face at her newly shown soft side, and you relax a little.
“So, what did you want? Are you here to help me move in? You’re a bit late for that”, she says, yawning. “I’m just taking a cat nap in the sun now, it’s unusually nice out for this time of year.”
You nod, and catch yourself admiring her white dress again. “Though I suppose,” she continues as if reading your mind, “unless I want a bad tan line I’ll have to ditch the dress”.
Before you can even begin to think what a tan line would look like on her, Ankha pulls the dress over her head, careful to not knock the ornamental snake headband out of place. You feel your heart catch in your chest.
𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨. 𝘏𝘰𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘶𝘤𝘬.
“Hey, 𝘮𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘰𝘸, while you’re here do you mind making yourself useful at least?”. The smile falls from your face quickly, her rudeness catching you off guard. Her tail points like an arrow to a bottle of tanning oil on the ground, then promptly points back to her, as she flops stomach down on the lawn chair without saying anything else.
You raise your eyebrows, wondering if that means what you think it does. Not wanting to get the wrong idea, you hesitate.
“I thought you had better manners than this”, she snaps, cocking her head to study you with those pitch black eyes. Your feet move before your brain does, and before you know it the bottle of tanning oil is in your hand. Her eyes are closed now, tail flicking around erratically, seemingly annoyed.

Your guilt for the previous day’s events trumps your nervousness, and you pour some oil in your palms. You move the viscous liquid around, making sure it’s not cold, and place your hands flat on the small of Ankha’s back.
You want to get this over as quickly as possible, your hands moving rapidly, and your brain dissociating away from any lewd thoughts. Your fingers trail down her spine mindlessly, suddenly and roughly catching resistance at the gold thong string, which snaps you back to reality.
Ankha’s tail stops twitching, becoming completely motionless, and one of her eyebrows juts up in surprise. You swallow roughly, expecting her to snap at you again. Instead, her voice catches you off guard.
“Keep going. If I get burned it’s your fault.”

You shut the door behind you, locking your modest one room studio, and step out onto the island to begin your long day of idyllic tasks. Bug catching? Fishing? Collecting fruit, maybe? You’re lost in your thoughts as you trod down the dirt path, a small smile on your face, and your head in the clouds. You see other villagers buzzing around but don’t pay them much mind, you’ll catch up later, but for now there’s “work” to be done.
Walking towards the town square you notice a new house has popped up and you raise your eyebrows. How they manage to build them overnight will never cease to amaze you. You squint and hunch over to read the name plaque next to the mailbox.

What on earth is that supposed to mean?
Your curiosity gets the best of you, and you knock on the heavy purple door. Almost immediately, with a click, it opens.
You look through the crack and don’t see anyone. Thinking you may have accidentally pushed the door open by knocking, you back up a few steps and grimace.
“Ahem.”
Your eyes shift downwards around three or four heads, and see only two black eyes peering through the gap.
"Hello there, I'm Ankha. What's your name?”
Despite her intimidating presence, you manage to blurt out your identifier, only stumbling over your words a little bit.
Without a smile or any warmth, Ankha continues to stare you down.
“Good to make your acquaintance."
Okaaaaaay then.
You stare past her, quite easily due to her stature, and take a peek at her home decor hoping to get to know her better.
The walls and floors are covered in the same hieroglyphics as her mailbox plaque, and in the center of the room is a giant sand pyramid.
Chills creep up your spine and you nod politely. With a tight smile, you back up off her doorstep to continue your day, pondering if you should make a stop at resident services to request this new guest leaves your island.
You hear the door slam behind you and you shake your head continuing with your day.

Bells jingle in your pockets after a fruitful day of collecting various bugs and fish, and you follow the dirt path home with the sun setting behind you. Passing various villagers you wave politely, exchanging smiles and greetings, until you arrive at the yellow house with a heavy wooden purple door from earlier.
Oh?
The lights are on inside, shades wide open, and you can see the golden interior glowing from the setting sun creeping through the windows. You can make out a figure walking around inside, a yellow and blue cat girl, and presumably the owner of the leering black eyes from earlier. You study the figure, trying to be as subtle as possible, and notice she’s not wearing much aside from a sheer white robe and… a gold thong? A blush creeps to your face, and you avert your eyes, shaking your head to clear it.
Better get going.
