In ancient Egypt, cats were revered and often associated with the goddess Bastet, the goddess of home, fertility, and protection. Killing a cat, even accidentally, was punishable by death.

taylorteacheshistory post No one dresses up anymore! 🥀 Let’s dissect this phenomenon w.. from onlyfans

No one dresses up anymore! 🥀 Let’s dissect this phenomenon wayyyy more than necessary 😂:

The practice of "dressing up," which generally refers to wearing formal or elaborate clothing, has a long history rooted in social customs, status, and cultural norms.

### Early History
- **Ancient Civilizations**: In societies like ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, clothing indicated social status, profession, and wealth. Nobles and priests often wore distinctive garments.
- **Medieval Period**: In Europe, clothing was regulated by sumptuary laws, which restricted certain fabrics and colors to the nobility. Elaborate dress was a display of power and rank.
- **Renaissance and Baroque Eras**: Fashion became even more extravagant, with the nobility donning intricate, opulent clothing as a sign of status and sophistication.

### 18th and 19th Centuries
- **18th Century**: Court dress was elaborate and highly stylized, with aristocrats wearing luxurious fabrics and accessories.
- **19th Century**: The Industrial Revolution brought about mass production of clothing, making fashionable items more accessible. However, strict dress codes remained, especially in the upper classes and in formal settings.

### 20th Century
- **Early 1900s**: Dressing up was standard in public and social settings. Men wore suits and hats, while women wore dresses, gloves, and hats.
- **Mid-20th Century**: Post-WWII saw a relaxation in dress codes, with casual styles becoming more acceptable in certain contexts. The 1960s and 70s, in particular, were marked by a rebellion against formal dress codes.
- **Late 20th Century**: The rise of the tech industry and changing workplace cultures led to the popularity of business casual attire.

### Reasons for the Decline in Dressing Up
- **Cultural Shifts**: The cultural revolutions of the 1960s and 70s promoted individualism and comfort over tradition and formality.
- **Workplace Changes**: The tech industry, particularly in Silicon Valley, championed casual attire, influencing broader corporate culture.
- **Lifestyle Changes**: The pace of modern life, with a focus on convenience and comfort, made casual wear more practical.
- **Globalization and Diversity**: A more globalized world introduced various cultural norms around dress, diluting the dominance of Western formal attire.
- **Pandemic Impact**: The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the trend towards casual and remote work attire, with many people working from home in comfortable clothing.

In summary, while dressing up has a storied history linked to status and formality, its decline in recent decades can be attributed to cultural shifts towards individualism and comfort, changes in workplace norms, and broader societal changes favoring practicality and inclusivity.

Man-made ponds have a long history dating back thousands of years. Early civilizations, like the ancient Egyptians and Mesopotamians, built ponds for irrigation and agriculture. In medieval Europe, ponds were constructed by monks for fish farming and water management. During the Renaissance, ornamental ponds became fashionable in gardens, reflecting a shift towards aesthetics. In modern times, ponds are used for various purposes, including landscaping, recreation, stormwater management, and wildlife habitat preservation. Advances in technology have made pond construction and maintenance more efficient, allowing for a wide range of sizes and designs to suit different needs and environments.

taylorteacheshistory post When you get a Bachelor’s degree in History, women will only.. from onlyfans

When you get a Bachelor’s degree in History, women will only represent about 5% of your graduating class. When I got my History degree it felt good to be one of just a few women, but also made me think of course… why are so few women historians? It’s more complex than you may think. Historically, societal expectations and cultural norms have often discouraged women from pursuing careers in academia, including history. Discrimination, implicit bias, and systemic barriers within educational institutions and professional networks have also limited women's access to opportunities for advancement in the field. Additionally, the historical canon of history has often focused on the achievements and contributions of men, leading to a lack of visibility and recognition for women historians. While progress has been made to address these disparities, there's still work to be done to promote gender equality and diversity in historical scholarship.

Putting a smile on again… but only because I really feel used and abused this week… Giving this much of myself has been a challenge, but at the end of the day it’s wonderful to know I have the choice to be happy and let things go.

taylorteacheshistory post Always in my sunglasses. It’s a necessity! Have you ever won.. from onlyfans

Always in my sunglasses. It’s a necessity! Have you ever wondered the history? 😉 : Sunglasses have been around for centuries in various forms. In prehistoric times, the Inuit people wore flattened walrus ivory "glasses" to block the sun's glare. However, modern sunglasses as we know them originated in the 20th century. In the 1920s, movie stars began wearing them to protect their eyes from harsh studio lights. By the 1930s, sunglasses became more popular for beachgoers and drivers. In the 1960s, they became a fashion statement thanks to celebrities like Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. Since then, sunglasses have remained both a practical accessory for eye protection and a stylish fashion item.

A poem, paying homage to my love of wrestling: In the ring they dance and brawl, Where heroes rise and villains fall. With muscles flexed and spandex tight, They battle on through the night. From suplex to flying kick, They perform each daring trick. With fake anger and scripted fights, Entertaining crowds under bright lights. Their promos are wild, their personas grand, In the world of wrestling, they make their stand. But behind the scenes, it's all a show, Where friendships grow, and egos blow. So here's to the wrestlers, larger than life, Bringing joy amidst the strife. With moves absurd and stories wild, In the squared circle, they're truly styled.
